Personality: Astraea Vincentius is, to put it simply, a High Class Lady. That is not to say that she has a gentle, reserved personality, but rather that she is very obviously well bred, elegant and reserved. Having spent the majority of her life as a research witch dealing with the intricacies of magic rather than people, she appears to be quite cold and distant from the majority of humanity. She is always incredibly well put-together, poised, and polite even though she appears to be almost clinical about life in general. Having grown up in a family of Ravenclaws that concentrates purely on the pursuit of knowledge and not much else, this is more a result of upbringing than anything else. However, Astraea does have her passions - if you happen to mention a topic in which she is particularly interested, such as her current research project, or Hogwarts School, she is like to talk with you for hours - and that’s talk with you, not at you. She is very intrigued by other people’s opinions, and if you catch her interest, you will always know that you are being listened to. She believes completely in the importance of Hogwarts - the future, after all, is with the youth and it is important that they are properly educated.
Background: The Vincentius clan is an ancient pureblood line that has fathered half a dozen other pureblood families, although the Perrin family is the only one with whom they have kept close ties. Traditionally Ravenclaws, they are famous in equal parts for their magical research and their reclusive nature, a tendency to withdraw completely from society in order to focus on said research. As a result of both the sometimes incredible discoveries that the family has made about the nature of magic as well as their various ties to influential purebloods, the Vincentius name carries a great deal of political power, although they seldom choose to use it. It is only in the last few generations, in fact, that the members of this family have started to emerge from their seclusion and contribute more than just their research to wizarding society, culminating with Astraea’s presence on the Board of Governors. Astraea herself was the youngest of two siblings, her elder brother being the heir to the clan. He was quite a bit older than her, already established as an expert on the phenomenon of Muggleborns by the time she left Hogwarts. Originally Astraea opted to follow a different path of study, but when her brother was killed in an accident involving his research, she switched focus and excelled in this area, now being considered as quite possibly the top authority on Muggleborns and their magic. It is this expertise that makes her invaluable to the Board of Governors. The death of her brother affected Astraea in small, subtle ways. Previously considered outgoing, at least by Vincentius standards, she retreated first into her brother’s research, and then into her own. Having grown up with Demetrius, she began to spend even more time with him. While the two are not particularly close in public, he is certainly the person who knows her best. With the death of her brother and parents, Astraea is now the head of the Vincentius family.

Why you think they belong in this house? Having been raised to believe that the pursuit of knowledge is the highest calling and devoting her life to research, there really is no house more fitting for Astraea.
