A cup of tea lay almost empty on the desk next to a set of half completed documents. Hardly able to keep his hand steady, Renji pressed his mark at the bottom of the latest report. It had all started after that cup of tea. He’d gotten a powder from Matsumoto that was supposed to ‘relax’ him when he attempted to talk to his Captain.
“All you have to do is just find a common interest,” Matsumoto had urged him that previous night in their drinking circle.
Kira and Shuuhei had wrapped their hands around respective containers of sake, and slowly locked eyes with Renji, fighting a fierce blush.
“Yeah, like that’s ever gonna happen?” mumbled Renji.
“You gotta have ONE thing in common,” murmured Matsumoto, her neckline dipping precipitously before she lowered the bottle of sake in front of Renji. He already glanced down at the emptied bottle in his hand.
Kira blinked a bit and then reached into his robe. “Well, maybe you need something to relax you. I’ve tried this powdered tonic with a balance of relaxation herbs…”
It landed next to a packet that Matsumoto had pulled out. “Ooops, how did that get in there?” Matsumoto complained glancing at an identical packet that had fallen from the valley between her breasts.
Both of them grabbed their respective packets. Matsumoto cast Renji a winning smile and held one packet forwards. “Try this. It will get you in the mood.”
“Tha’s NOT the problem,’ Renji confessed, rubbing the back of his neck. Especially with thoughts of his captain haunting him day and night. That was far from his problem.
Both his friends pushed the packets towards him. He figured there was little harm in taking either one. Putting Matsumoto’s in his left hand pocket, he then stashed Kira’s in his right.
Now he glanced at the other packet and dropped it on the desk. He could have sworn he emptied the contents from Kira’s into the tea. Now, realizing the error he groaned. Renji swore he was going to kill Matsumoto, or whoever had urged him to drink the damned aphrodisiac. Now he was trying to focus on just how he could shake it off and get through work.
He gripped the edge of the table, trying to stop from touching himself. Byakuya couldn’t know the feelings of lust and love he evoked in his vice captain. Plagued with palpable fear Renji yanked his chair further in when he sensed the reiatsu behind the door.
“Renji?” murmured Byakuya quietly.
“Y… yes Taicho?” Renji answered, swallowing the moan in his voice.
Byakuya’s smooth voice intoned. “Have you yet completed the reports?”
“S… still working on them Taicho…” Renji answered, shivering at the sound alone evoking a very definite response that must be tenting his hakama now.
As the door slid open, Byakuya was revealed behind it standing with an erect posture. “May I enquire just why you are delayed?”
Keep your knees tucked in, and take deep breaths, Renji urged himself.
His eyes immediately locked on the steel blue ones focusing at him. Almost as if they could pierce through the wooden table and see what Renji was taking great pains to hide. “T… taicho… I uh have a problem…”
A graceful black brow arched. “What sort of a problem?”
“Ah… a personal one,” he answered unable to keep a secret from those eyes and that regal face inclining to give its full attention to him. That gaze pierced him, pinning him to his desk
chair so he couldn’t move. Worse yet, he wasn’t sure he wanted to.
“How personal?” Byakuya murmured, rounding the desk to stand directly beside him. “I expect my fukaitaicho to be completely candid if there is a reasonable explanation for his delay. You can be assured the answer will be kept strictly confidential.”
“I… drank something,” Renji murmured, voice lowered to a whisper. Drowned out by the pounding blood in his ears that roared like thunder.
“Explain,” Byakuya said, voice and eyes hardening.
Renji flinched and then said, “It’s not anything like sake. It’s herbal… it’s an aphrodisiac!”
He couldn’t stop the string of words babbling from his lips. “I… I…. Taicho…”
“Why didn’t you simply say so?” asked Byakuya, causing Renji to release his breath.
“Taicho?” he whispered as a hand lay gently on his shoulder.
“Perhaps I can assist?” murmured Byakuya as he slid the hand up to caress Renji’s cheek. Relief filled him as Byakuya bent down and kissed his forehead. Then the blood really rushed completely south as he pulled away and revealed his lower half.
The first kiss was a soft touch of lips. And then pulled back. Extending his hand, Byakuya raised Renji to his feet.
Renji smiled, finally realizing he had nothing to hide.
