Captain
Storvik, USS Murgatroid, and Captain Mason
Gallaway, Starbase 668, were dining in the most upscale of the station's restaurants (meaning that they didn't have to answer the question, "Do you want fries with that?") Storvik had issued the
invitation, as it was his belief that he might be able to rehabilitate the
reputation of the Murgatroid now that he was in command, and that SB668 had a new commander with no previous history of encounters with the Murgatroid or her crew. Gallaway, who had read some of the reports about the Murgatroid's previous visits, was somewhat leery of the Vulcan sitting before him - even though none of those (frankly, quite hard to believe) reports about the Murgatroid made any mention of the name "Storvik". In fact, Storvik's name didn't seem to appear in the computer records
at all.
Still, Captain Gallaway was growing impressed by the Vulcan's conversation and stories, and thought that perhaps the Murgatroid's reputation was somewhat exaggerated … until a security officer interrupted and handed the station's commander a PADD. Gallaway quickly read the report, about how the primary suspect in his predecessor's murder had been
arrested - but not without a struggle. In fact, according to the PADD (which was not tied in to the programming of the station's computer), there had been some interference by Storvik … who had obviously been here, in the restaurant with Gallaway, the entire time.
Gallaway handed the PADD to Storvik, with a somewhat amused and confused expression on his face. As the Vulcan quickly read security's incident report, the human apologized. "I did tell them to notify me immediately in the event of any developments in the murder investigation," he said, "but I didn't expect them to interrupt dinner. Apparently I've been boring you, however, since you've decided to be in two places at once and engage in bar brawls while we eat."
