The Synergy of Insanity
Storvik left the uss_murgatroid via the airlock. She had an appointment with the head engineering officer on starbase668 to discuss the status of repairs on the Murgatroid. As Storvik walked through the corridors, she noticed that the station had calmed down since her last visit.
She spoke briefly with a couple of security officers, who'd been on patrol since the initial outbreak of Khan's virus. After the initial shock passed, along with the frenzy of "experimentation", people calmed down and accepted the situation. It was neither a permanent nor a harmful change, and most people enjoyed the experience (although many would never admit it). "In fact," said one ensign, "some people actually seem to be disappointed that the effects are starting to wear off."
Storvik reflected upon the synergy of the Murgatroid crew's peculiar natures interacting with the barely-disciplined personnel of SB668, creating a situation that was more chaotic than the sum of its parts. "The Synergy of Insanity," thought Storvik. "That's what I would title the report on this incident to Starfleet Command, had I any intention of writing one." She paused. "I ought write one just in case. Unlike events that are confined to the Murgatroid, no doubt Starfleet will be hearing about this from SB668 personnel."
