Where to start?
Things are ok.
Mom had a fire at her house four days before Christmas. The house is mostly fine, though they're still doing clean-up and she's not back in there yet. She's been in a hotel since then. It's ridiculous, but we're extremely lucky to still have the house.
School started back this week. My schedule is good--classes on Monday and Wednesday, in the middle school on Tuesday, and supervision on Thursday am. Oh, and writing my prospectus in my spare time. I'm almost finished with my Social/Emotional evaluation case from last semester, and I haven't screwed up a child yet, so that's good news. It's exciting to be doing something REAL, even if my 'save-the-world' rosy dreams are getting a little squished by the bureaucracy.
I got Brady an Xbox360 for Xmas (with Chandler's gamer know-how--Thanks, Chawk!), which he loves. I'm thrilled that he's so happy with it. He gets to play Halo with his buddy Buddy, and it makes me laugh when they geek out over kills and Warthogs and god-only-knows-what-else. Plus, I don't feel so guilty when I have to do schoolwork at night when he gets home--he can hang out with the guys. It's a win-win.
My grandfather's 100th birthday is this week. The Beasley clan is converging in NOLA to celebrate next weekend. I'm excited to see everybody--even if it's going to be a total melee. It'll be a quick trip for us. Down on Friday night, back on Sunday (9 hours each way). But it's so worth it.
We adopted Ben from Momma. He and Blue love each other. They're hilarious and adorable. They've been remarkably well-behaved; we can leave them in our bedroom while we're gone and they leave clothes and furniture alone. It's great. We go to the dog park almost every day and we go hiking on the weekends. They're in dog heaven.
Brett Dennen played at La Zona Rosa on Friday. It was a great concert. If you haven't heard of him, you should. He's very folksy. See especially 'San Francisco'. It's hip and fun and it makes me happy, even though I have no particular connection with the city.
I guess that's about all for now. Love.
