And it didn't even smell funny! Well, and it wasn't dollar, it was two dollars, but I'm okay with that. It was excellent getting out and doing something. So now I'm gonna babble randomly about the movie as is my habit.
It was good. Not brilliant, not the best ever... but more than worth seeing if you're a fan of good gore and slashing and whatnot. If you don't like gore, don't bother. If suggested sexual violence bothers you, you might also wanna shy away.
If you're the kind of person who actually SHOULD be in a horror movie, on the other hand... good stuff. It starts out slow, I will warn you. Very slow. I swear to god, I thought if I didn't get something more interesting happening than their dogs running away... As it turns out? One of the dogs was pretty much the smartest, most capable person in the whole movie. Go figure.
Aaron Staford (aka Pyro for you X-Men fans like, y'know, me) wearing glasses and needing a shave in the worst way played a geeky, slightly unlikeable half-assed kinda husband (I mean, he was checking out his wife's baby sister--pervy). Fortunately he grows a pair about an hour into the film after his wife gets part of her head blown off. Thank god for that because he becomes much more interesting once he starts killing people in violent and horrible ways. And more likeable.
I think the film's biggest strength is that despite particular plot points being predictable and some scenes going *exactly* the way you'd think they would (and I fully agree with Gwen--who the fuck keeps car keys on the visor?), it really didn't end the way I would've predicted overall. The nicey-nice people? They don't all live happy ever after. I'm glad to see that trend in movies now (House of 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects, Wolf Creek, Hostel). Cuz y'know what? When I'm watching a horror movie, I'm not looking for a sunny outcome. I don't need one.
In other news, still want to get a female rat to live with Ford (who is fixed, don't worry) so he isn't lonely. Want to get it from the breeder, though, and she only has one girl at the moment. We're kinda waiting for her new litters coming up. We shall see. Hell, maybe I'll find a lovely one somewhere else before that... not going to close myself off to options.
Only three weeks till graduation. I'm trying not to freak out. I don't have time to freak out. heh And I'm using my Tumnus icon cuz I haven't in awhile. You rented that yet, mom? Or bought it? It's worth it. Narnia's fun.
