So I had meant to post once a day from here on in. I figured I'd putter around the house a bit, do some errands today, and then tell LJ what I had gotten up to. Nothing as amazing as yesterday's car crash, but surely I would have something to say!
Well, I don't. Because I started reading
Firebirds where I had left off at about 8 am this morning and I've just finished the last chapter and it's midnight and I have to work tomorrow and I need a shower but I'm so PUMPED from reading a fic that reminded me what fics used to be like. I've gotten so used to snack-sized fics-- one shots, or stories about just two characters-- that I forgot how the norm used to be 100,000 word plus mega-epics (How many chapters did
anastasiab's "Just Lucky, I Guess" get to in the end?) that took you a good long weekend to get through and you felt changed when you blinked awake at the end of it and had to remember what real life was like away from Westchester or Salem Center or Genosha or Ebonshire... and also remember that you hadn't eaten for a day and a half.
She killed off nearly everyone I love, but I don't even care! Never stop writing,
aliciam!
Now I'm off to shower, and then I'll let
miss_porcupine's fics fuck me up like this tomorrow night.
Anybody else on AO3 from back in the day?? If you know anyone's usernames on there, let me know in the comments. It's Old Home Week and I'm gonna read everybody's new fic I can find.
