geeze louise! that was four straight hours of screaming children.
they were absolutely adorable and absolutely exhausting.
so we are having a cookout, right? and all of a sudden madeline, the oldest who is five (?) starts screaming "smoke!!" tracy and i tried to assure her that smoke was a principle part in a cookout, but she was relentless. the next thing i knew, she's run to the iron-wraught gate, clutching the rails and trying in vain to climb them; discovering she could not, she ran back and grasped one of the life-size toy cars yelling, "Smoke! Smoke! Save the toys!!"
i'm glad the girl was so worried about... *The Toys*
and cameron watched lion king with us during the first couple of hours and so he's crawling around the backyard emitting this awful, pitiful, raspy little moan. apparently he was growling like a tiger. quite strange indeed! but then, he's still running around and he's coming straight towards the swingset where i am pushing his brother, mason. i had to think quickly because the poor child is about to be struck by a swing so i grab on to mason's swing to stop it and... he falls out:( right in front of his father! i was like "yes i'm a wonderful babysitter, now you see why mason was crying when you tried to leave him with me, tracy and eric!" aw, it was crazy. the dad was cool about it though.
i am utterly exhauted.
but man, i love those kids! tonight was a refreshing (no, not *relaxing*) reminder of life in general.
but now it's nap time 'til my parents get home.
