[ A young woman with pink hair and blue eyes appears in the video, staring back at the viewer with clear irritation. She doesn't say anything for a while and judging by the movement of the camera, she seems to be walking somewhere. At length, the movement - and thus, the girl - stops and her eyes lift from the camera, scanning her surroundings

[You have nothing to do with him or his plans. :| Even worse, Kain has that strange twinge of familiarity, something that in his current state of mind just irritates him. He doesn't like that feeling.]

I see your personality is as sunny as ever. [ She scoffs and shakes her head. ] Quit messing around.

She didn't expect to get this kind of greeting from him and it stings a little. But if he wants to play it this way, fine. When she finally answers him, she talks as though she's explaining a very complex situation to a 5-year-old.You're name is Kain Highwind. My name is Lightning. We were kidnapped from our homes and brought to fight a war for an all-powerful goddess named Cosmos. This way had nothing to do with us. You got into your head at some point that losing to win was the only option, so you went around killing your allies in order to force them into saving their strength for the final round. [Where to even begin with all of that? He has no idea how the cycles work so he's very confused. And frustrated because the whole thing has that mocking air of the familiar.]
...How could betraying and killing people help them to win?

[ Lightning mutters the words more to herself than to Kain. ]
Are we done here? What the hell is wrong with you?
[ She's starting to believe he genuinely doesn't remember, but that still doesn't explain the change in his personality. Sure, she can't see his face, but she knows his voice and his armor is too distinct to mistake for belonging to someone else. Lightning doesn't like this situation; it's bizarre and there's no one around to explain what's happened. She's never wished Cosmos would give her answers any more than she does right now - and that's saying something. ]
'You don't remember the Rift? The endless waves of manikins?

Manikins? Rift? What's wrong with you, what are you even talking about?

The war! The conflict of the gods! You were chosen! We all were chosen. She brought us there and made us fight - 'made us die for her.
[ Lightning grits her teeth, her jaw clenching tightly. ]
You betrayed us and martyred yourself because you lost hope... because you wanted to give the rest of us hope.
[ She sighs, dejected, defeated. ]
'Nevermind.

[Mostly the dying for someone else's war part. He really could care less for former allies or... whoever was supposed to be leading them.]
There's only one master I'd die for, but he's nothing to do with this war of yours.
[Well, ok, two, if you count both Golbez and Zemus, but it's Zemus who is ultimately in control.]

Just forget I said anything.

[Especially if they're those heroic types like Cecil and all the rest who he used to call allies.]

That's not what you insisted!
[ She snaps at him verbally and her fingers itch for her gunblade, though she knows that won't accomplish anything since Kain isn't even really here. Whatever he was before - friend, ally, comrade - he is not that now. He is an enemy. She seethes and growls her words back at him now. ]
If I see you... ever again... you'd better be prepared for a fight.

[Kain sounds very contemptuous about that, he has not patience for his 'good' self.]
...but you're enough of an annoyance that I'll readily fight you. Prepare for a swift defeat.
