In my world, you could say we have two New Year's celebrations. One is according to the calendar used most commonly, and one is according to the lunar calendar that was traditional in my country for many centuries.

[Hi there, Sae! Ami's happy to touch base.]

Two? Oh! That's right! You are from Japan too, right? Then New Year's should be about the same for us!

That's right. We probably have many similar traditions, too, regarding celebrating it.

I don't really know what to do here. I mean there wouldn't be any New Year's programing on TV and there isn't a Shrine around to go and visit... I guess I can still get up early to see the first sunrise, but that is why I was asking what other people like to do.

It's alright. We'll make some new traditions of our own. [An odd remark from such a traditionalist as Ami; but maybe she's changing slowly to be adaptable.]

New Year's dream? Are those more powerful than normal dreams?

They say your first dream of the new year can be a sign of what the year will hold. Certain themes are considered especially lucky.

You sound like you know a lot about this. So... um, what kinds of things are considered lucky?

[innerflow]

Well... Mount Fuji, for example. [That's a sacred site, so it's easy to understand why it'd be considered a good omen.]

So if I dream about Mount Fuji I will have good luck in the New Year? If that is true then I will have to try and do it!

That's the belief. That one is considered especially fortuitous. Maybe it will even be a sign we'll make progress here.

Oh! In that case then I will have to try really hard to have such a lucky dream! I really do want to make some progress here!

[I see long hours staring at images of Mount Fuji ahead... ]

[Theoretically, imprinting the image in the mind would make it more likely to carry over into a dream.... Yep, hours. Definitely. Though Ami's a bit of a romantic herself, and will probably take what comes.]
