[When Obi-Wan appears on the feed, it's with a single nod as his way of saying 'hello'.]

It's come to my attention that we are able to learn magic here. While I'm not interested in learning all of it, I've been doing some research and there's a particular spell... Haste. I want to learn it. Just that one. [Maybe even learn how to incorporate it ( Read more... )

Really? You wouldn't mind teaching me?

[A grin.] That sounds fantastic. I'm always up for a sparring match.

Not at all! When would you like me to teach you?

Same here!

As soon as possible, if that's not too much to ask. [What can he say-- he's eager.]

Perhaps we can incorporate some of the teaching into sparring. What do you say?

Fantastic! I'm in Twilight Town. We can use the Struggle arena to practice. No one's been using it.

[And with that, Obi-Wan moseys on out to the Struggle area and waits for his Haste teacher and new sparring partner. You better get ready for a continuous badgering of questions, Tidus!]

[Several minutes later, Tidus can be seen running until he comes to an eventual stop next to Obi-Wan. He smiles brightly.]

I hope I didn't keep you waiting, Jedi! Okay. Haste.

Not at all. [And eagerly, he turns to face Tidus completely, wondering how they'll go about this.] Where do you draw from to do magic? Does it come from within, or...? [And at this point, he gestures around him, as if to refer to the world around them.]

It comes from within, and around. I mean, back on Spira we have spheres that help, but you can have all the spheres and if you don't bother to learn it doesn't mean anything. I think magic comes from yourself though, because I've noticed when people do too much, they get exhausted. Sometimes they aren't able to do any for a while after that. If it was as easy as drawing it from the world, we'd be able to do as much as we want.

Spheres? What are they? [He listens intently to what he's told, absorbing the explanation. What Tidus said certainly made sense-- and he would have to make sure not to exhaust the ability.] Good point. The trick is how you draw it, I'm guessing?

On my world, people make them from the water filled with pyreflies, which is like...what comes from when people or fiends die. [He nods.] You really have to focus, and know what you're doing.

Fascinating...! Things sure do function differently from world to world. [A grin.] Focusing, I can do. But you'll have to guide me through the rest of it. I'm... not sure what to focus on. Tapping into magic has eluded me... [Otherwise he wouldn't be here, obviously.]

Yeah, it's pretty interesting! [Tidus smiles.] Time magic incorporates time...that much is obvious. So in order to tap into the magic as you put it, you need to be able understand and grasp the time around you.
