Tell me, what does it mean to be friends? Are there some sort of tests of loyalty involved? To what extent would you trust one another? Is it ever enough? Do you find yourselves doubting the other, your friend, when things become harder than what you're comfortable with ( Read more... )

You think comeraderie with those not of blood constitutes some sort of compensation?

Doesn't it? If someone has nothing to give, why should anyone care at all? They'll only be in the way.

It's better just to kill them, when that's the case. Friends already share a weak bond. It takes very little to break it.

[To someone who was basically raised to believe in fellowship, this is practically blasphemy.]

Are you mad?

[He tilts his head, giving Thor a half-smile that doesn't meet his eyes.]

Would madness make me any less right?

It would not! You could not be any more wrong. Such an act is not something to make light of!

You say that, but do you have any proof? What makes it worth it? Why not? It's so easy to do!

It is simple. Comeraderie is not a "poor excuse" for family. It is a extension, a piece of what makes a man who they are!

Killing one who is part of that would be unforgivable!

What you speak of isn't real. It's just a way for you all to feel less weak, as if your lives matter. If you're so against killing any of them, eventually you'll be the first one dead!

...That is foolish thinking. To have friends has nothing to do with weakness or desire for recognition. It simply happens, and should it end it is not just because of bloodshed, or betrayal from another friend!

Besides, those who are in a family with shared blood can betray or hurt one another as well, as easily as you claim friends can.

[Not speaking from true experience, of course. At least he hopes he isn't, but he gets the feeling he is now.

Ugh, Loki...]

The way people say it simply happens only makes me think it's one big accident.

They can. And when they do, they can be killed too. But then, why bother? Why bother with any of it when friends are even less reliable than family?
