http://community.livejournal.com/serena_femslash/ As ADA Alexandra Cabot strode confidently down the hallways of Hogan Place having arrived back from an arrangement she spotted a familiar figure leaning against the wall near to the DAs office.
‘That can’t be Abigail Carmichael’, thought Cabot.
As though she knew that someone was behind her and had thought her name, Carmichael turned around and met the gaze of a confused Alex Cabot.
‘Whoa, what the…’ “Hi Abbie”.
“Hey Alex. It’s been a while.” Responded Abbie with a smile.
“Yes it has. How’s the US Attorney job working out?”
“Good, actually that’s why I’m here.”
At Alex’s bemused expression Abbie explained further, “The ADA for narcotics is causing trouble for one of my cases, so I’m here to meet with the DA to sort things out. Can’t have the DAs’ office and the US Attorneys’ office fighting can we. You still with Special Victims?”
“Yes, just got back from an arraignment. So your replacement in narcotics is causing trouble with the big shots, I’m glad I’m not in their shoes.” Replied Alex, the humour evident in her voice.
“More like my replacements’ replacement, a cocky, ambitious lad who looks like he should still be in law school”, groused Carmichael.
Any response Alex may have given was cut off by a ring. Both women searched their pockets looking for the culprit, which turned out to be Alex’s cell phone.
“Cabot”
“Unless you and Elliot have more evidence I can’t get you…”
“He did what?!?”
“So where is the suspect now?”
“I’ll be right there”.
“Another case?” queried Abbie.
“An on going one, the guy is too slippery to pin anything on. Although pulling a knife on a pair of my detectives isn’t a wise move.” Replied Alex. “Listen if you are done in time why don’t we grab lunch, I’m sure Serena won’t mind if you join us, you can trade stories about Jack McCoy”, Offered Alex.
“Is Jack still here?” Joked Abbie with slight disbelief.
“Yes. Sorry Abbie but I’ve got to get to the 1-6, stop off in my office if you are done in time for lunch” repeated Alex.
The clicking of heels sounded Cabot’s retreat down the hall and towards the lifts just as the DA’s office door opened.
