This is in loving memory of Jeffery Edward Deschner. On Tuesday December 9th, 2003. Jeff died of a drug overdose. He was addicted for about eight years (since he was 16). His memorial was today, and I was shocked to find this out. It is very sad when someone dies over a drug overdose. It made me think about a lot of things, like my friends that I used to hang out with (would still like to) do drugs, and haven't stopped, I would really like them to. It makes me really think about a lot of things. I don't want anybody to ever die of an addiction again, but it will happen. Jeff was a very nice person and I think that everybody should have known him or have at least talked to him. Jeff lived in Battle Ground for most of the past two years, where he worked to overcome his addiction. His family and friends tried to support and encourage his recovery in every way that they could. They really thought that he could overcome his addiction, but as you can see he didn't make it. Family and friends came to appreciate all of the times together, cherish every celebration and treasure the best of Jeff.
I would like to now share with you Jeff's favorite scripture: The Gift of Love.
Love is patient; love is kind, love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all thing. Love never ends.
Corinthians 4-8
I would like you to think about this a little harder if you do do drugs, maybe it will help you think about some things. I wouldn't want you to end up like Jeff.
In loving memory of:
