I just started reading this today and it is just very powerful.
You have provided so much imagery and I can feel the thoughts Sam is feeling. It is most intense to see how he goes into the numbness of not knowing where he is or what he is doing, then meets people like Alice and then still has the human nature and protective emotion for the innocent humans when he saves Michael. The depiction of all this is at its best when you describe how he is in the cage and sees the hellhounds, is then visited by Alice and learns the truth, plans how to save himself. The mention of the red thread he uses to keep a small part of sanity and then loses its address is just fabulous.
I loved how he then becomes one of the pack and is just one of the pack for so long. That was just unexpected and wonderful progression. I loved how he still remembered the green eyes and the name Dean was enough to trigger him back to some awareness. I absolutely loved how the hellhounds learned about Dean from Sam's mind and how the whole pack fought for the safety of the pack.
He is one of them.
There are many lines I liked here and of of most favourite is:
"His name is SamuelSamSammy Winchester. And they will keep him no longer. "
The term "Hellhounds" has been the most feared one and as I read this I am carrying forward a feeling that no, there are evil humans that surpass all else.
Thank you for giving me such thoughtful comments :) As for the hellhounds, I agree - in this fandom it's not uncommon for hell hounds to be considered something utterly evil. Personally, I'm of the opinion that they are relatively intelligent, but are certainly not the things at fault for so much that's happened - they're just carrying out a job, what they were designed to do :)
