Description: Juliet is at the awkward age in every female's life between childhood and adulthood. She's expected to be a woman, to marry Paris as her parents have chosen. She agrees then to try to love him, as if love is a choice. At the beginning of the play, Juliet is naive and very obedient, which shows off the more childish aspects of her personality, but within the five day course of the story, she grows into a woman who is courageous , loyal, and strong.
When she meets Romeo and falls for him, she experiences for the first time in her life real, passionate feeling that drives her more than blind obedience to her family, more than anything she's ever experienced. She's willing to go to every length to remain faithful to Romeo, and to the feelings within herself. At just thirteen, she has the courage to bring a blade to her chest and plunge it into her heart, taking the ultimate sacrifice for love. Juliet proved then that she is a woman, no longer naive to the dark, tragic side of life.
She enters the Inn after dying. Although she doesn't realize it, Juliet has even more growing up to do to adapt to situations, places, and people, and to experience a new life after death.
