So I think it's time I really updated this thing b/c I usually am obsessed with doing that and .... yeah I'm rambling.
So.
Last week-last Friday to be exact- I saw The Strokes at Hammerstein Ballroom. AMAZING. I was in shock. I saw them a couple of years ago and they were good and fun-but NOTHING like how they were this time around. They had some pretty advanced, kick ass guitar solos, the vocals were INCREDIBLE and they were absolutely flawless. I couldn't hear anything that went wrong. Julian's voice is so amazing too-you can really hear how much skill he actually has. God I just love his voice. It's got this old fashioned almost Dean Martin quality to it, and, at the same time, it sounds very modern. So wow. wow. wow. wow. I still can't get over the excitement. :-) AND I'm seeing them in AC again on Apr. 22 with my brother and sister. So the fun ain't over yet. They have become so much more talented, advanced musically and I need to shut up now.
Next week-from Sunday to Wednesday-I'm going to Williamsburg VA with my padre. It should be fun. We always go away together for a few days over my spring break. Two years ago it was Boston, last year DC and now VA this year. It's gonna be about 75-80 degrees there next week. No complaints here. I love Williamsburg. I've been going there since I was really young, so there's always this wave of nostalgia that completely washes over me when I'm there. The smell of pine trees always takes me back there.
Speaking of trips, my sister and I are going to London in July. We're going to the travel agent on Sat. I can't wait. I love London and all it's Londoness.
In scholastic news, I have begun working on my senior thesis. I'm using Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and discussing something with alter egos and gender. The Platonic idea that we used to be attached to someone of the opposite sex, got split apart by Zeus and now search for our other half, our alter ego, our soul mate-what you will. That's why we have sexual desire-to reunite with our other half. There's also the idea that inside of men there is a female element and inside of women there is a male element. So this stuff fascinates the shit out of me.
I love that spring is coming, slowly creeping towards us. I hate to sound all Disney movie, but has anyone else noticed that the birds are louder these past few days???
Well-was that enough of an update for you? I gotta go to class.
