“Mm, Shiwon?” Donghae mumbled sleepily, stirring when he felt another body slip into the bed beside him.
Lips pressed a warm kiss to the back of Donghae’s neck and an arm wound itself around his waist, pulling him closer.
“Ssh baby, go back to sleep,” came the whisper in his ear.
Donghae hadn’t been sleeping, not really. He found it difficult to sleep without Shiwon beside him.
“What time is it?” he asked, his hand coming up to rest over Shiwon’s.
“Late.”
Donghae wondered if he should question Shiwon further, ask why he was coming in so late, but he didn’t. Maybe part of him didn’t want to know.
Feeling another soft kiss against the back of his neck, Donghae decided he didn’t need to know anyway. Shiwon was here, and that’s what mattered.
Settling comfortably in Shiwon’s familiar hold, Donghae let out a sleepy sigh of contentment.
“Sleep,” Shiwon whispered again, letting out a breath of his own as he settled against Donghae.
“Night,” Donghae mumbled, giving in to the call of sleep that beckoned him.
“Night, baby.”
Donghae wondered for a moment if tonight would be the night Shiwon finally said it.
But all he got was another content sigh and Shiwon threading their fingers together. With the steady breath on his neck and the warm squeeze of fingers around his own, Donghae realised not everything needed to be said with words and this was just Shiwon’s own way of telling him. And that was good enough for Donghae.
He fell asleep with a smile on his face, squeezing Shiwon’s fingers in return.
