The worst kind of feeling - love - in the world is unrequited love. Kyungsoo considered himself to be a very intuitive person: always knowing when something was going to go wrong (often his friends call it a blessing but to him it was a curse - “All the more better for you to prevent it from happening!”). But despite being a very intuitive person, this was something that had totally escaped Kyungsoo’s mind even though he could read people very well.

Kyungsoo met a man, online, who seemed to be at first blush, a really wonderful charismatic man. Kim Jongin. That was his name. During their two hour chat session, Kyungsoo learned more than he actually thought he would - the more Jongin would write, the more intrigued Kyungsoo would be. Jongin was what Kyungsoo has ever hoped for in a man - he was amazing, good with words, witty and something about Jongin screamed sexy and adorable all mashed up together - perhaps that should have been his first red flag. (No man was perfect and the fact that he actually allowed his lonely heart to completely take over his rationalmind to venture there was definitely not a good thing).

That chat session turned into a phone conversation.

(“Hello.”

Kyungsoo nearly dropped his phone in shock. Jongin’s voice - Jongin’s voice - was sexier and deeper than what he had imagined. And Good lord, Kyungsoo imagined a whole lot when it came to Kim Jongin.

“Hi,” Kyungsoo all but squeaked. He mentally face-palmed himself - he wanted to sound confident like how he was when they were chatting… not like some high school girl who was talking to her crush for the first time! (Although that was not far from the truth)

Jongin chuckled. “Why are you so nervous, hmm, Kyungsoo?”)

That phone conversation lasted for five hours.

Kyungsoo found out that Kim Jongin was savvy, smart and direct. He was nowhere near shy or insecure - that was quite obvious with all the innuendoes that Jongin had dropped during their conversation. But at the same time, Kim Jongin was also vulgar and crude (perhaps a tad (actually a lot) bit insulting towards his exes - “Ugh, Sehun was such a clingy bitch,”, “Who the fuck looks like a fucking porcelain doll? Luhan, that’s who,” Yet Kyungsoo gave him a pass - perhaps he had been too lonely for too long and had looked beyond the things about Jongin that he had detested and allowed his emotions to run amok.

That one conversation turned into two.

Two turned into four.

So on and so on.

Before he knew it, Kyungsoo had fallen head over heels for Jongin. Jongin said all the right things to woo him and woo him, Jongin did - he sent Kyungsoo cards, flowers, gifts and was a wonderful gentleman. He was in love (and blinded by it too).

After five months of dating, Kyungsoo made the decision to leave him wonderful circle of friends (Baekhyun and Chanyeol threw a tantrum at his decision but bawled their eyes when it was time for Kyungsoo to leave - it made him feel guilty but he was blinded) and moved across the country to be with Jongin.

They spoke about marriage and a life spent together forever.

(“Jongin, can you please look at me?”

Jongin turned to look at Kyungsoo, a small smile crawled on his face. “Yes?”

“Will… will you still kiss me if I look old and wrinkly?” Kyungsoo asked - he knew it was a silly question but he just had to ask.

Jongin chuckled before placing both of his warm hands on Kyungsoo’s cheeks, cupping his face and bringing their faces together until their foreheads were almost touching - his breath was fanning Kyungsoo’s lips, making it tingle. “Of course.” And Jongin sealed his promise with a kiss.)

The moment Kyungsoo moved in with Jongin, everything changed.

Kyungsoo found out that Jongin was pathological liar who had constantly cheated on him (with Luhan and Sehun, no less!) while the two of them were still together and had been married and divorced five times (with a girl his parents had forced him to marry). The worst part of it was… the realization that came along with all the epiphanies Kyungsoo had: Kim Jongin never actually did love him and he was simply a part of a rather twisted and sick game that Jongin was playing. Unfortunately for Kyungsoo, he had been so in love with Jongin that despite the heartbreak he experienced, he still simply could not throw away his feelings for Jongin. Lies and all, Kyungsoo still loved Jongin.

That was literally two years ago and there has never been a day that has passed by with no thoughts of Kim Jongin. He was simply a presence that haunted Kyungsoo’s mind - some days, Kyungsoo hated Jongin’s guts and cursed at him but some days, all he could think about was how he was doing, who he was it and the constant craving to listen to his voice was overwhelming at times.

Because of this, Kyungsoo had (supposedly) sworn to no longer trust men because of Jongin’s actions and as such, tried his hardest to not find love when he was lonely. Because of his own mistakes, he had ventured off to a path that he would have never stepped onto if he had paid his intuitive sense a bit more of attention.

He did and (as much as it was embarrassing for Kyungsoo to admit it) still does love Kim Jongin.
