ok, so you know what totally made my day today? I was driving around with my sister and her husband, and in Ypsi we see a homeless person sitting along the side of the road with a cardboard sign. As we're passing by, I try to read what his sign says, but I don't get a chance because he puts it down for a second. Why, might you ask? Because some business guy in a suit and tie had pulled over to the parking lot behind where he was sitting, handed him some cash, and got back in his car to continue on his way. Both my sister and I saw this exchange and were floored. I have seen people give some change to someone on the streets, but I have never seen anyone actually pull over and take the time to give a handout. I know I've never really considered it, as many times as I've seen people with the signs on the side of the road (there is regularly one near the US-23 exit ramp onto Geddes). And you know what? Even if that guy does use the money to buy alcohol instead of food--as was predicted by the car's resident cynic--his day just got a little better, and the businessman obviously felt he could spare a few dollars. Mr. Good Samaritan Man: I salute you!
