Help wanted...

This summer I'm contemplating a hostessing job at a chain restaurant, i.e. Outback, Bertucci's, Chili's, etc. Has anyone worked anywhere like that? If so, do they hire for only 2/3 months? How was it (pay, people, stress...)? Thanks in advance guys!

it really depends on the restaurant you work at. at tequila grande, pay isnt that great, like i started at 5.15 an hour and after the first 6 hours of training, *which i got paid for, my boss says anytime we are there doing work we should get paid even if its only for meetings and classes etc.* but then i got moved up to 5.50. and since my boss likes me and im a good worker she gave me a raise to $6. most restaurants start you off at minimum wage unless they are seriously shorthanded and are trying to coaxe people into working there. in any restaurant there are off days and busy days. mostly its in a set schedule so you will have days you know are going to be busy, and days you know are going to be slow. i.e. mondays and sundays are mostly really slow whereas fridays and saturdays are really busy. stress depends on the hours you work and how you get along with your boss(es) and coworkers basically so you cant predict that. and as for the 2-3 month time period? discuss it with your boss before they hire you and let them know that this would be a temp job and some might still hire you and some might not. good luck!
