michael phelps is still one of the best
i know i should shut up about it already, but i wish haters would just quit bitching about michael phelps. he made history last olympics, and asking for a repeat performance is too much. he doesn't have to prove anything, and he's done so much already. he's one medal away from tying with Larisa Latynina for the most medals.
also, this is just what i'm getting from various articles and just inferences, but i think he's ready to move on, or he doesn't have the motivation he did last olympics. those past years of grueling training were all for the 2008 olympics and he did a fucking great job, winning those eight medals. and with the explosion of fame he experienced post-olympics, maybe he realized there was more to life than swimming? like, he did his part, made history, and now there's nothing really he can do to add that.
while i do wish he would perform a little better, i understand that he's getting older, this is his last olympics, etc. he's still one of (if not THE) greatest swimmers around. ryan lochte is a great swimmer as well, but i don't think he can do what michael did in the 2008 olympics.
