Burning A CD
Can you imagine this happening? A normal, down to earth teacher had just gotten out of school; she was done teaching for the day and was heading home for the evening. She was stopped by a roadblock where a policeman walked up to her window and noticed she had burnt CDs in her car, he counted up nine and fined her 5,000 dollars for every copied CD. Well, that did happen and you maybe thinking,”There is no way I’m going to get caught” you can keep on thinking that because that’s exactly what she thought. Weather we want to admit it or not burning CDs is illegal and a sin.
I am going to give you the facts on how burning CDs is illegal. Have you ever looked on the back of a CD case and read the small print? It says this: Unauthorized Duplication is a Violation of Applicable Laws. Which is saying you are not allowed to make another copy of this CD. Obviously people are not reading the small print so some artists have taken a bigger stands. One Christian artist wrote on the inside of the case he was very thankful his CD was bought but he explained how,” since you don’t own the copy right its not yours to distribute. Its hurting the artist who created the music.” That’s what we don’t realize it takes 8 dollars and 25 cents to manufacture the CD, which includes pressing the disc, printing the booklet, levies, taxes, the box, artwork and shrink wrap. Also, the recording cost can run anywhere from 10,000 dollars to 50,000 dollars. Groups like the Recording Association of America say that the downloading of unauthorized or pirated files is costing them billions of dollars. It has been recorded that there was a 6.7 percent drop in CD revenue between 2001 and 2002, which was wholly due to file sharing and piracy of music, by millions of Americans. You think that burning a CD and giving it to a friend is not illegal and it doesn’t hurt anyone? Think again because it was your burning and your giving way that caused the 6.7-drop in CD revenue. But where does it say giving burnt copies away is illegal? Right here, there is an Act called the NET Act, which says, “ You can be prosecuted even if you’re not profiting or gaining in any way from the use of individual files.” It also says that even if you have a file that you got from a legal site, you are guilty of “profiting” from the file, and could be finned 250,000 and imprisoned.
Now you know for sure that burning and giving away CDs is illegal but what if you’re the type of person that doesn’t care as long as you don’t get caught? I have news for you; burning CDs is not just illegal but a sin. A lot of people reason with the phrase,” Well it doesn’t say in the Bible you can’t burn CDs.” It doesn’t use the word burn or CDs but it does say in Romans 13, verse one and two, you must all obey the governing authorities. Since all government comes from God, the civil authorities were appointed by God, and so anyone who resists authority is rebelling against God’s decision, and such an act is bound to be punished. Recall what it says in small print on the back of your CD case, “Violation of Applicable laws” where do laws come from? The government, and the government comes from God. If you are breaking the law you are breaking God’s word, and what’s that? A sin. The Christian artist mentioned earlier also said this, “it has the same effect as stealing a CD from a store with out paying for it.” Did you make the CD, write the songs, and think up those lyrics? No, so you don’t own it unless you buy it, and you still can’t claim it as yours to copy because of the copyright law. One of the 10 commandments is, “though shall not steal”. Stealing means taking something that isn’t yours. You can try to justify and rationalize your wrong actions and make it seem like its not that big of a deal, but stealing is stealing, it’s a sin.
Here on Earth when a person gets caught for burning a CD there are temporal consequences like being fined or imprisoned, but once you die and your standing before Jesus you will be accountable for why you broke one of the 10 commandments and did not obey the government. Is all of that worth 15 bucks?

Yeah, thats how it is, so except it. hahaha

AFter speech i talked to my friend Hayley for a while and then I got online and had an interesting conversation with Gavin, I think he thinks I think poorly of him. hahaha oh man
I talked to Linzi for a second and then I had to go, I had to do a bunch of school.

oH! So i forgot to mention. TOday while i took my first bite of pizza i burnt the roof of my mouth. Remember that show called Survivor? The 2nd season, where Michael fell in the fire and burnt his hands and all that skin was falling off. Yeah well that was happening to the roof of my mouth! it hurt so bad. and it still hurts! AHHHH!!!!

So back to my story, i did school and then I started watching ELF with my little sister, I love that movie. i have to tell you the more you watch it the funnier it gets every time.

Then I ate some more pizza for dinner, I can't believe it, but I did. Taking the risk of more skin peeling.

So i'm trying to find a way to my friend's Swim Meet tommorrow night. I really wanna go, 1. because i've never seen her swim, which is really sad, and 2. because it is against y-town. hahaha That school needs to go to HAY. No offense to any one that goes there, well actually, yeah, take the offense. hahaa

Well I think I am going to put some new pictures up on my site. SO go check out the latest ones from the v-ball banquet!

Best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.

love to you
