To My Grandfather
Your songs are one of the things that I miss
Filled with old lyrics that no one else knew
I remember the way that we used to dance
How you would help me count to keep in step
You were a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather
I don’t know anyone who would argue that fact
I’m glad I got to know you
And I’m glad it wasn’t for a short time.
You were once my neighbor, and then, as now
I regret not visiting you more often.
But by the Grace of God, we will meet again
In a much better time and place.
I love you Grandpa.
