A break, a possible vacation, and a tech upgrade... oh my!

So as I have made aware I've been hard on the keys working on script material for the Great American Pitchfest (to those who need info from me about crashing, it should be coming in the next couple of days; the summer schedule will be set soon.) The mini series has worn me out, and now I've taken over a week hiatus while some of my readers/editors are looking things over. Meanwhile....

A friend of mine has been harping on my to come visit them in Japan. Yes I'd like to go, but it'll be bloody expensive. I do not want to take out any more loans until the summer at least. However...

My craving for a new TV/PC monitor and a PS3 had finally over taken me. Yes, I bought a Samsung HDTV that also acts as my PC Monitor... and I love every minute of it. And yes, a PS3 sits in my room... but still in the box. I have not opened it and I contemplate taking it back. I jumped the gun on buying the system, because I was going to wait until MGS4 and Ghostbusters to come out, but MSG4 does not come out until June, and there are a slew of games I've been drooling over - Army of Two just today.

I never seem to have much money, as most of you who know me, know this fact already. But I've come to a realization that if you're not happy with yourself, you can't be happy with anyone else. Will buying expensive things make me feel better as a person? Perhaps, at least make myself feel a little more worth of the time I put into my career and school. I'm behind a lot in the times - slow to adopt new things, but hopefully I'm not too late before the "next" next gen system start rearing their heads. You know they are too.

I've got five more days to decide if I am keeping the system. I weigh the scales against my financial situation and to "can I really get involved heavily in gaming right now?" Video Gaming has been a long standing hobby/passion of mine, it's what got me into writing, film making - it pretty much started me in the direction I am going today. But because of the temporary fix I get from them I never have invested a ton of money into video games. I carefully plot it out, the pricing; the purchase; how long can I make this game last; how customizable can I make things? Making sure I don't make a misstep. Not to say these two purchases were a misstep, but perhaps premature. The TV will stay, I've been longing for a slim TV/PC monitor longer than a PS3, and if I will be traveling out of state in the next year, it was a necessity. The PS3 can wait until May or June, and until I get a bit more cash that is how it will be. I'll be collecting games over the next couple of months - reserving some and purchasing some so when I do decide to get it for keeps, I will be ready for a gaming fest that will totally destroy my sleep patterns and social life for three months. But for a gamer - it might be worth it.

That was originally my basic plan all along. I feel I will cheat myself out of it if I don't stick to this plan. Man, I cannot wait for September.
