Rome

Well here is the entry for Rome, but still no pics. I think that I might just put them all up when I get back to the states because it is really difficult to do at internet cafes with limited time. Our stay here has been good but I think I am about done being in Rome. It is just too full of tourists. We found this awesome place to stay for way cheap in these little mini-cabin things that was way clean and we even had a bathroom all to ourselves. The first day here we just took it easy and laid around. We walked over to the supermarket across the street and bought some stuff we needed and then later went over to the restaurant to split a pizza and a bottle of wine. The second day we started to do a little more. We got up and went to the Vatican Museum, which was full of some amazing stuff from mummies to more art than is even imaginable. Every surface was covered. At the end of that we went into the Sisteen Chapel. That was a lot to take in, but was some amazing stuff to see in person. Next we went around to St. Peter's Basilica and through there. That was about the end of the sightseeing for the day. We found this little restaurant about half a mile from Vatican city and had lunch there. It was a tiny family place and the food was amazing. Then we had to join the masses and get a little gelato for the ride back to our place. We followed that up with some laying by the pool and had a long conversation (and a few glasses of wine) with a family from South Africa. They were really cool people and offered their email address if we were ever down there. So that makes two people offering places to stay between the two cities we have been to. Today we got up and went to see the Forum, Colluseum, Pantheon, Circo Massimo, and of course the Trevi Fountain. On the way back to the terminal where we had checked our stuff I discovered that I was an idiot and lost my claim ticket. After much worrying we found out that it was pretty common and wasn't much of an issue to fix. That leaves me here updating this journal. We are about to go find water to drink and then a place to hang out because we fly to Venice in the morning at 6 and are just going to stay in the airport all night because we wouldn't be able to make it there in time in the morning if we stayed anywhere, so that should make for an interesting day tomorrow when we are way tired. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but between me and my cousin we have a lot so it will just be a matter of a few weeks.
