Ms. VonScarlet got me RockBand today, as it was to initially be my Xmas present but copies of it were sold out everywhere in December.
It is indeed filled with the rocking. If you haven't already heard from everywhere else how awesome it is, it is indeed awesome. It's Guitar Hero with, like, 5 more levels of awesome added onto it.
Not too sure about the new Stratocaster guitars, though...their nice, and the effects switch is cool, but the buttons being flush with the neck makes them too easy to accidentally push. Takes some getting used to.
The drums also take a lot of getting used to. Big time. Easy mode kicks my ass on drums...I guess it's just getting the timing down, which seems to be a hairs' difference from guitar.
My only real complaints for how long we've played it so far is that there are no options for the volume level of individual instruments (it would have been nice to turn the drums up along since it's hard to get the timing when all you hear is yourself beating on the pads) and that when someone is singing, their voice is not channeled through the game and over the original vocals out of your speakers, or maybe that's asking too much.
Anyway....RockBand rules.
Our band is "Astro Sex Experiment", but I doubt we're even on any leader boards at all right now. Also, with "sex" in the title, we may be censored.....
EDIT: We indeed changed our band name today. Apparently "Sex" is such an unbearably naughty word that you are removed from the online band listings and leaderboards because of it, which is probably the dumbest thing ever. I could see it if, say, we named ourselves "Fagfucker Cuntjizzmops" or something.
Anyway....we are now called "Foetus Sandwich"
Thanks for the suggestions about voice volume. I also discovered that some of the "getting my ass kicked on drums" may have had to do with a latency issue caused by using Dolby Digital. Everyone (and now me) says the whole game plays much better in just plain Stereo or Pro Logic.
