Not a lot of Stanford news today so much as a "people who have worked with Stanford" news that I deem relevant.
Gary Winick died last night. He was the director of Tadpole and helped pioneer low-budget digital filmmaking. He also gave Stanford the part that launched his film career.
Melissa Leo, who played the mother in Runaway, won a Best Supporting actress Oscar.
Also, apparently, on last week's Nikita, Birkhoff typed this as his username on his network that he created: BIRKHOFF_31337
