I've gotten into that mode where I no longer blog unless I think I have something tres clever to say, or if I have a vlog to post. I will endeavor to change that. Starting... NOW. Go.
Um... so I'm finishing up my coffee so I can get busy packing up. This is my last day in Bemidji doing Sherlock Holes* at the Paul Bunyan Playhouse. Tonight after the show we strike and eat pizza, a fine end to what has been a wonderful experience - I've so enjoyed working with my old friends and getting to know cool new people!
*(ETA - Ha ha ha ha "Sherlock Holes," best typo ever!!! No, I'm not shooting and adult film... It's Sherlock Holmes, homes.)
After strike, I'll take a nap, then wake up at 4:30 and head back to the cities for a 10am rehearsal. This is ridiculous you say! I agree, but I've been neglecting my Fringe cast, and it's unfair of me to ask them to keep rehearsing without a director present, and I'm not comfortable with canceling rehearsal just because I'm off doing summer stock.
Speaking of Fringe, we got a review of our preview at the Fringe-for-all. The reviewer kept things positive and gave well-deserved props to my cast, but he made it clear that he didn't care for the show's content. Perfectly reasonable, and yay for any extra publicity!

In other news, and probably most important, my wife and I are ending our separation. This is a wonderful development, though still part of an ongoing process. There are SO many variables to be considered, some having nothing to do with our relationship, but I couldn't be happier about the direction in which things are headed. This does mean that I will be taking a week right after Fringe opens to fly down there and help her move up to the Northlands - an adventure to be sure, as we will be filling a GIANT truck with the remainder of our stuff.
After the dust settles, I will be preparing to integrate more fully into the goings on at the Commonweal, starting with a short understudy run in The Rainmaker, then headlong into the new November play as dramaturg, sound designer and actor. This will leave no room for waiting tables, about which I have mixed feelings. The extra money and coffee discount are pretty boss, and I do love the people there. But as most of my friends already know, beyond the tips, there's not much good to say about waiting tables. Unless you crazy.
Last and most importantly, I will miss my long, luxurious hair. I grew it out for the current show, but it will not do for the Rainmaker, so some time in the next few weeks, it has to go. (sniff). The photo just doesn't do it justice...
Now to the packing!
