8-24-10 Broadcast - a full moon!

Aug 26, 2010 20:32

Okay, continuing along with the idea of posting and keeping records of the playlists of the broadcasts, here we go...

So yeah, the this was a tough one. Computer issues abound... was it also a Mercury Retrograde? Or are we in transition with Mercury? The changes affect me more than the actual retrograde as I was born during a retrograde. I'm normally skewed a bit? I don't know. Anyway, after much problems and many issues with connectivity, I finally broke down and contacted TWC for tech support. They had to reset the modem because, "it's been going for 56 days and needs to be reset occasionally" - huh? It's also been fine up until that point. And it was recommended that I not do the reset on my own as if I do take out the battery backup, it will then have a high probability of crashing completely on me. I'm like... great equipment you've got there, eh?

So, starting time was a bit later than I would have liked, so in response to that, my ending time was later still. That is, until nobody was listening and I had nothing better to do than sleep (which, as I've always got things to do, means that I was actually caught up on some stuff (not all, just some)).

Here it is...

Spirit of Radio
Rush
Standard starting song, I know. I'm working on a different one. Any suggestions?

Natural Science
Rush
Figure a nice 9 minute opus would help me settle in. It didn't. I was still having issues at that point.

Sparks of the Tempest
Kansas

Nothing Ever Goes As Planned
Styx
That was to define the show, which is why it got such a prominent position in the playlist.

Then comes requests. At this point I have five listeners (hey, that's a lot for someone who doesn't advertise). Request #1 was for Queen. Request #2 was for Leonard Cohen... so...

Dragon Attack, Sail Away Sweet Sister, Let Me Entertain You
Queen

If it Be Your Will, Everybody Knows, Hallelujah (live)
Leonard Cohen

Superman's Song
Crash Test Dummies
No, not played because the vocal range is similar, though that doesn't hurt

Levon
Elton John
Because I did it last week also, didn't I? Confirming that the segue sounds good.

I'll Follow The Sun
Beatles
Oh, Sir Paul! Catchy, ain't it?

True Companion
Marc Cohn
A request! What's so amazing is that someone knows Marc beyond "Walking In Memphis" - I know Marc because both he and I are from Cleveland and he was popular there way before he walked in Memphis.

Still... You turn me on
Emerson, Lake And Palmer
Vocal range was the reason here

Moondance, Crazy Love
Van Morrison
Was in the mood. I think there was a request also for some Van Morrison.

What A Wonderful World This Would Be, Cupid
Sam Cooke
A request because Sam sounds so good after Van

Into White
Cat Stevens
Another request! See, I do have listeners. Not all requests are from one person - as a matter of fact, this is the only repeat request (same person who requested Queen.

The World I Know
Collective Soul

I Believe
Joe Satriani

I think at this point it glitched out beyond reason. Had to reboot the server. It was bad.

Hunter
GTR
A guitarists kind of set there - two songs is a set? What am I thinking? Two songs is a couple, not a set.

Heaven Can Wait (live)
Meat Loaf
From the Storytellers album. If you have not heard this version, find it and listen to it.

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Sting
From the new album "Symphonicities" - issue is that because of issues here, I was not able to hear it. I'm sure it's okay though.

Again it glitches. :(

I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)
Grand Funk Railroad
(a long song to fix everything)

Things I Don't Understand
Renaissance

Tempus Fugit
Yes

Alive, Porch, Black
Pearl Jam
These are from the redux of ten. The difference is subtle and amazing all at the same time.

The Only Time
Nine Inch Nails
Why don't I like calling them NIN? I still don't know.

On The Loose
Saga
Canadians, can't live without them, can't not play their music.

Turn Me Loose
Loverboy
Yeah, a loose set (okay, a loose couple then (oh my))

Blue Collar Man (long nights)
Styx

Addicted To That Rush
Mr. Big
I just like 'em.

Pull Me Under, Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper
Dream Theater
Need time away from the deck, board or computer? Play some Dream Theater - they don't do anything short or quick. Was it a bio break? I think it was a sewing break. The only embroidering radio DJ. Oh my. It was also like 1:30 in the morning.

Remedy, Thorn In My Pride
Black Crowes
Two songs that have to go together because the go so well together (and it's the album order)

Wonder
Natalie Merchant

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Allman Bros.
The 13 minute Live at the Fillmore version

Take The Highway
Marshall Tucker Band
I thought they'd fit together as they're both "southern rock" bands... um.. I was wrong.

Then I played the Soft Machine's "Volume 2" album. I was in the mood for psychedelia.

More later.
