WHEEL... OF... FORTUNE!

Apr 04, 2009 01:02

So I promised to "get off my ass."  So, what'd I do when my day off rolled around on Thursday?  Nothing!  I did bake a batch of brownies (OK, followed the directions on a box of brownie mix) and hang around the CCDB all day, though.  Maybe that counts...?

The geek-out stuff I promised earlier.  The Wheel of Fortune Wheelmobile is coming to northern California!  All right, maybe it's just me, but I'm excited.  Game shows are my first--and still the first--thing I get truly excited over.  Now, the Wheelmobile is going to be in Stockton (about 60 miles away) on Saturday and Sunday.  Since I'm working, well later today, I'm going on Sunday.  That is, if my car will be able to get me all the way there.  And hopefully back as well.

Anyway, at these Wheelmobile events, people can play a version of the game for small prizes, shirts and hats and the like, and get the chance to audition for the TV show.  How these things work is people attending who eventually want to try out will fill out a ticket, then they're called up five at a time to go on stage to be briefly interviewed and play a version of the speed-up round.  Of everyone called up, some are selected by some means to audition for real.    I've attended before, and I've got two shirts and a hat myself when they came up here before, in Sacramento in '03 and San Francisco in '06.  Unfortunately, I didn't win an audition; maybe the third time's the charm!  It's a veeeeery loooong shot, but hey, I could use the cash and a new car!

I'll see how it goes--that is, if I even get there and not get stranded on the highway.
