1. Name: Cornelia
2. Age: 18
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Damn that is tough. I love traveling and there are a lot of beautiful places I love such as Paris and Venice. But I think San Francisco is where I would love the most. It's an interesting town with an unusual landscape. And I don't know, but it seems like it'd be a place suitable for a romantic person like me, but not too busy and "shiny" like Paris. I love the down-to-earth nature of the city, and how it's rather unnecessary to drive your own car due to the landscape, few parking spaces, and lots of public transportation. I've always preferred public transportation because they're practical, fun, and it's good to feel that you're not making the traffic worse than it already is.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
A library filled with all the books I desire to read, of course. I've thought about this a few times, and even though I love my computer and my DVDs to death, reading has always been my biggest passion. I constantly feel the need to find more and more books to read. I can't stand ever having a day without a book to read, so I'll reread an old one just to have something to read if necessary. While computer & DVDs are my ways to seek some fun, books are more like my necessities.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
It is hard, because every single character in the HP series are very well-thought and they all have their unique personalities that are attractive, even the bad guys. I guess I'll have to settle with Peter Pettigrew, because he just lacks everything, from courage to worth. He doesn't have anything at all that is good, completely nothing left, not even a dignity after everything he'd done. He's just a worthless man.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
I tend to think it's half empty first because I tend to think of the worst case scenario at all situations first. I think that way we can anticipate anything, and be ready for just about anything, come up with solutions first. And if it turns out that it isn't as bad as we thought? It'll feel better than ever. But then again, lately I try to always push myself to think it's half full, to always look on the bright side. It is not good being pessimistic, and I'm determined to turn into an optimistic person.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
Everything happens for a reason. There are a lot of stuffs in our life that happen without us knowing why. Why did we deserve it? Is it because of our bad karma? Or is it just another obstacle we have to overcome to make us stronger? I strongly believe that there's a reason for everything, that whatever happens to us, no matter how we can't understand it, or no matter how bad it is and it's something we totally don't deserve, there is always a reason. I like to think it's always for our own good. It helps me get over the worst situations and help me move on and be strong.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
I don't like to put any in the second place. I love my family and I can't imagine living without them someday, I don't even like the thought of living with a husband and children of my own and leaving my parents and siblings behind. I like to always be close to them because there's just a strong bond you can't break with your family. However, my friends are just as valuable. Recently I've realized that more than ever. Without a friend, you can't survive. Plus they're the ones who will always understand, support, and believe in you. Of course my family could do that too, but sometimes parents just can't relate to us on some situations, you know? And my brothers are all grown up and I can't exactly discuss girl stuff with them either. My friends are like my sisters. I guess if I've had sisters, I would've put my family first, but since I don't, my friends will have to come first if not equal with my family.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
There are a lot. I have to say, every single moment I spent with my family back when I was young was a memorable memory. Not that now they don't love me as much, but you could just see that my parents used to be more expressive, smiles a lot more, and hug me more frequently. They don't do these stuffs too much anymore now that I'm all grown up, which is another thing I dislike from being a grown up. Why can't we all be that cheerful happy family still?
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
Definitely my shyness. I've been having problems with it more than ever this year. I start uni and I can't make new friends as quick as everyone else could. I'm the invisible girl in class just because I can't express my thoughts as freely as they could. Deep inside I'm not this loner girl, I've always wanted to be the social butterfly, I just can't. It's part of my personality that I hate the most and I really wish to change. Unfortunately it's also the personality that dominates me. I've done ridiculous stuffs just because of this shyness, and I've probably missed tons of opportunities just because of that too. I really need to start showing myself who's the boss and take control.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Yes, definitely. It's not because I like taking risks and doing dangerous stuffs - most of the time I prefer to play on the safe side - but it's about standing up for what's right, and for that, I can never back down, no matter what the risk is. I'm the person that's quite stubborn when it comes to my beliefs and what I think is right. What I know is right, actually, because I'm really an open-minded person and I never refuse to hear the other side of a situation.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
Sometimes the easier way is just to let it out and cry. It doesn't solve anything, but it makes you feel relieved at least. Then you get calmed down and you could think logically of a way out. I tend to hide my problems from people though, especially if they're sensitive ones, I can't imagine telling other people about it so I probably would have to come up with my own solution. If it's really unsolvable by myself, I'll then tell someone I can trust and ask for help.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Justice. Since I'm a sensitive and romantic person, I tend to get swayed by compassion and feel the urge to just forgive people once they say they're sorry about what they'd done even though they'd done serious bad stuffs. But that doesn't mean I like it. Like I said, I like to stand up for what's right and that's why most of the time I manage to drive those mushy feelings away and make sure the brain's the one that's working, not the feeling. Justice always needs to come first.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
I think a child at heart. I know I've always dreamt to be a successful career woman, someone who is passionate, confident, and know exactly what she's doing. I've always had the picture of myself in the future as a goal. But deep down inside, aside from being a hopeless romantic, I'm also a daydreamer. I love to use my imagination, and I hate to limit it. I think everything is possible in this world. That's also why I'm always intrigued by the supernatural world. I don't like the way adults limit their imagination (well, not every adult of course, but most of them). And I hate how they seem unable to express themselves as free as children could most of the time. My younger days as far as I could remember were fun; those were the times when we never need to worry about boys or money or future job or real life problems. All I want is just happiness, being able to trust people without ever questioning them, and that everyone can be as honest and simple as a child. It seems like the older you become, the harder it is to trust people.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
I've always considered myself as a mix of Slytherin and Ravenclaw, with Ravenclaw qualities more. I'm quite driven and ambitious to reach my goals, but the reason I want to do so is because I love to learn everything. I have the desire to master more languages simply because I want to be able to speak them, not to be praised because of the accomplishment. I want to excel in everything I do because I want to be able to do them so well, not because people will admire me that way.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
Did I say I have trouble with extreme amount of shyness? Sorry to be a party pooper, but you'll just have to imagine how I look. ;) I'm an Asian btw, with black hair of course and all that jazz.
