Hi all,
I was ultra serious about that really broadly based religion topic for about 3 weeks. And then I decided that the idea of studying that was not in the possible 22 month scope of my grad school program. Additionally, most of the people I would want to interview had already passed "beyond the veil". I also attended a couple of different places of worship with a friend, including a different Unitarian Universalist Church on the Shoreline (which was also lacking in young adult members), and a tiny Pagan/Spiritualist Church on a hill in Bristol, CT. The Pagan/Spiritualist church intrigued me to the point where I would like to go back. Saying I may have been a Pagan in a former life is almost a superfluous statement (at least if we are talking about life on this Earth).
Now I am leaning more towards a performance piece for my final project. Unconsciously, it may have been that all along. This past month of class hit me hard like a ton of bricks. I may be a certified art teacher, but I'm not working in a school, like most of my colleagues (with the exception of 2 others). I can't bring about change in a place that doesn't exist in my life. This allows me to focus on changing my own life (which is a blessing in disguise). My idea so far is to attend Burning Man next year and collect stories from the people I meet. I plan to record my retell of those tales, along with some live performance.
I believe I have a natural voice talent, and I just need to practice more. I finally finished my recording setup by getting a nice pair of studio headphones, and a pop filter for my microphone. I am learning Garage Band as I go along, but thankfully there are many great free instructors on the internet (via sites like You Tube) to help me out. I also purchased a cello. Acquiring and learning to play the cello has been on my bucket list for awhile. The night I brought my recording equipment and cello home, I decided to create audio blogs about my progress with the cello. Check me out on my Sound Cloud Account:
