Summary: Chapter 71. Liz writes another book, Jack meets one of her fans.

“I’d highly recommend that one. It’s an excellent book.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Jack replies.
“Oh, you’ve read it?”
He grins amorously at the author’s picture, returns the book to the display. “My wife wrote it.”
The sales associate, a nice young lady, maybe thirty, stares at him blankly. So long it’s beginning to be uncomfortable.
“I’m so sorry. I can’t believe - Sir, your wife, she’s amazing. I’ve never seen this subject handled so honestly, so genuinely, but with such wonderful humor and emotion. I can’t begin to tell you how much the book has meant to me. It’s been so helpful...navigating all of this. I had a miscarriage myself, a few months ago.”
He searches for a name badge. “I’m very sorry to hear that…"
“Kristine. Pleasure to meet you.”
“Jack.” He smiles warmly, shakes her outstretched hand. “If you don’t mind me asking, how are things now? How are you feeling?”
“I’m...okay. It’s been hard, but my husband and I, we think we’re ready to start trying again soon.”
“That’s wonderful. Good luck to you. It’s a difficult situation to get through. Liz will be very pleased to hear her efforts have been helpful. I'll be sure to tell her."
“Please do. I can’t thank her - both of you, really - for sharing your story.”
“Tell you what, Kristine,” he reaches in the breast pocket of his blazer, scribbles on the back of a business card, “this is her email address. If you’d like to speak with her personally, maybe get a cup of coffee or something.”
“Wow, I - Thank you. Thank you, so much, Mr. Lemon.”
As he turns to leave, there’s no impulse to correct her. He feels honored to be called by Liz's surname. He’s proud of her book. And extremely proud of her.
