Panic, fear and despair...yeah, right.

So I'm looking at the reports on the photo op over NYC a few weeks ago.

A VC-25, with an F-16 escort flew over NYC, and "thousands" of people fled into the streets, afraid that "another 911" was happening.

Right.

Something about this whole story is totally fugazzi.

I taught high school in the Bronx from 2003-05. I used to see fighter cover overhead a couple of times a month. Pointed it out to people, nobody ever worried about it. I'll admit, I knew where to look for the Operation Noble Eagle Fighter CAP, but, face it, the Big Apple Racetrack Orbit was occupied about 90% of the time.

Nobody was panicking back then, and that was when 911 was a fresh and sharp memory. Most of my students had personally known folks who died that day.

New Yorkers were not traumatized and panicked back then. Nobody worried about fighter planes and airliners in the sky in 2003.

So, WTF is this? Did some new disaster happen since then, and I didn't notice?

New Yorkers...traumatized by memories of 9/11...panicking at the sight of something that's been pretty much a normal occurrence for the last couple years, something that has not EVER panicked them in the last eight years.

Right.

Something stinks here, and it ain't the smog.
