On the other hand, in an ideal world, no this SHOULDN'T BE "news." Anymore than that it should be "news" that we have female B-52 pilots or black admirals, or (say) a black President.

Hoo-ah! ...and, from what I hear through back channels, this isn't "Affirmative Action" - she is apparently one tough and intelligent lady who can strip the paint off a bulkhead when she needs to make a reprimand.
