On Lord of the Rings and siblings

Sorry about disappearing last night, taiyou_to_tsuki but what happened is that I wandered into the living room, and The Two Towers was on tv. My sister was already there, and a moment later my brother appeared as well, and then we ended up discussing/making jokes about the movie, which led to me getting the book and pulling up the annexes.

Some theories discussed were which brand of detergent Gandalf's makeover was due to and whether it was accidental or what, and also the nature of the relationship between Legolas and Gimli. For instance, due to a remark in the annexes about how Dwarf women look like dwarf men on those rare occasions they are seen, in addition to that other note about Gimli travelling with Legolas to the great elven retirement home whatever it was called and their unusual love and the hint Galadriel was maybe all "it's cool bros". Well (as best as I can recall):

My brother: "Well, he kind of looks like a girl, so what if he's actually one?"
Me: "Which one do you mean? x'D"
Him: "...wait, what if they both turned out to be women?"

Pretty sure I've read that fic once. >3>

Also, later in the movie, after we'd joked about Legolas being a bit protective of his dwarf bf, and then Gimli told Aragorn to throw him on a bridge full of orcs but "don't tell the elf," we decided it was because otherwise Aragorn might have had a nasty arrow related accident... x3

Something I didn't mention aloud, but on this watch I could kind of see why movieverse fandom seemed to have a lot of Legolas/Aragorn. I personally have no interest in that pairing. but I can still see the slash bait moments they have in the film.

Anyway, at one point we ended up first migrating to my brother's room and then ignoring the rest of the movie in favour of watching extras on my old extended DVD's instead. Fun tiemz.
