I was reading this article just now on the first space hotel opening in 2012. It's 4.4 million dollars (US) and it takes 8 weeks of training on a Caribbean island and a day and a half rocket ride to get there. Then once you're up there you have to crawl around your room in a velcro suit. No lie.
So why would anyone want to go through all that trouble to get into space? To be fair, it is spending time in SPACE. Still, my guess is there's going to be a lot of Spock/Uhura roleplay up there if you know what I mean.
The best part is that it's all being funded (aparently) by an anonymous billionaire. Oh anonymous billionaires, is there anything you can't do?
