I think many of yall got the message wrong:
This song aint pro-riot. It's against mindless, blind violence, because we're becoming the monster we're fighting against. This isn't a song that encourages riot, but one that encourages peace, reason and true equality.
Minorities are on tight rope, but that isn't majorities fault, it's the culture we've built with the years. Culture can't be fought because it's something abstract. What many of us are doing, ignorantly, is creating a common enemy, which is majorities instead of society itself. We don't have to fight fire with fire or else we will get more hate in response, we should teach future generations instead how to live in peace, respecting differences and rejecting harmful and disrespectful conduct. Sadly, we won't live long enough to see the product of our fight, but it should be enough relief in our consciousness to know we WERE THE CHANGE when no one else was.
I believe many black activists and fighters would be let down by our behavior, rejecting peace and letting our rage pilot the movement. Tubman, Douglas, Mandela, Angelou, Michael King, they all venerated peace and justice, and acknowledged that white people weren't the problem, but society itself was. They found out that the main enemy, society, can't be fought with a sword; so what they do? They fought it with words, actions, charisma, love and strenght. They made the difference and did not lose their mind against the "common enemy" that's nothing but a social construction to evade the real problem, which is culture and society. We can't knock down an abstract being, because we'll be knocking ourselves down as we do.
We need to make black lives actually matter, and trust me, this AIN'T the fucking way."
