so i'm in mongolia right now. it's not that much colder than canada (well, waterloo at least), and it's always sunny. the ground is covered with a layer of snow/ice even though it hasn't snowed since i got here and there's constantly people hacking away at it with these shovel-thingies trying to clear the roads. apparently they don't have machines to clear the roads nor do they use salt to melt the ice, so there's literally hundreds of people just manually hacking away at the ice all day.
the other weird thing are the phone booths, or lack thereof. instead of phone booths, there's these guys who walk around with telephones with a large antenna sticking out of them. you pay them and can use their phones. kinda like walking telephones..
other than that, there's not much to do here. we've driven around a bit, but there's not much to see. ice sculptures at the lenin "museum" were kinda cool. i say "museum" since it's not really a museum, but has a theater and a bunch of pool tables. oh, and a big statue of lenin. it might have been a museum at some point, don't know.
i'll probably post more later after i do more stuff, but the computer's on dialup and it's pretty slow.. :(
