In public news...

(Lu wants to read the public bits, so I'm splitting them out again...)

Was another pre-5am wake up. I tried controlled crying, and just lying next to the cot, but no dice. In fact when i was lying next to the cot I fell asleep, and when I woke up Amélie was just standing there, looking at me, and sucking her thumb. I LOL'd. She's just an early riser, and we need to get used to it, albeit we mostly have.

I was tired this morning though so tried to have a bit of a lie-in, but it didn't really happen. Lu and Amélie stuck around upstairs until nearly 6:30am, and I had to get up at 7am anyway.

I got home after 5pm and cooked dinner. Lu and Amélie arrived home just after 6pm. As per usual Amélie rushed into the kitchen and wanted to be immediately picked up so she could see me finishing off dinner. I'm getting quite expert now at cooking while holding her. Another word to add to her vocabulary: pie.

We had a hilarious dinner, as when we got to dessert Lu had gone into the other room and Amélie was eating blueberries (after taking all the grapes out the dish and feeding them to me). I spotted one she had missed, and she made a surprised face, and swiped it straight into her mouth. It was such a hilarious manoeuvre that I burst into laughter, and so did she. I then copied what she did, and she burst into laughter. This went on for about 5 minutes. Prior to this she had been scoffing blueberries and burped while we were singing, which also resulted in lots of laughter.

I also gave her a bath, which was the usual madness. Amélie splashed half the bathwater over everything, including me. She's getting more and more restless, and didn't even let me dry her for more than a few seconds before she got off the bed and was running around. Now we're downstairs watching In the Night Garden, preparing for bed. She still loves In the Night Garden, much more than anything else. I can't really seem to get her interested in any other programmes, but In the Night Garden is particularly excellent.

It's going to be an early night tonight. I'm knackered.
