Chaos Theory (2007). Directed by Marcos Siega and starring Ryan Reynolds as time management lecturer Frank Allen. The film starts with the wedding of Frank's daughter. He catches up with the groom, who is having last minute jitters, and proceeds to give him some advice about how difficult life is to control. Then the bulk of the film switches to flashback, with Frank telling the story of how he met his wife, played by Emily Mortimer. When I read the synopsis for Chaos Theory I thought uh-oh... *ROMANTIC COMEDY ALERT*ROMANTIC COMEDY ALERT*. But I forgot that sub genre of romantic comedies... BLACK romantic comedies, or is that romantic BLACK comedies. Either way, that's pretty much where it sits. The story deals with a not entirely impossible and problematic situation of infidelity, with a twist or two. Ryan Reynolds is excellent, keeping a good balance of the comical and the serious. Ditto to Emily Mortimer, although she lends more towards the serious. If you want to watch something romantic and comical without too much cheese then it's worth checking out. 4/5 (Good)
