Yesterday was so far off from my original plan of "work, get new car, nap, relax" that it almost had an unreal quality to it. The work part went normally, followed by driving a half hour to pick up my (amazingly beautiful wonderfully awesome) new car. It was on the way home that the night began to derail. Here's what happened:
Less than 5 miles away from the dealership mom says "What was that noise?" I heard something faintly metallic, but shrugged and said I didn't know, happily driving the rest of the way home. As I was dropping mom off, she got out of the car, waved, and then started banging on the window as I began to pull away. My right front hubcap was missing. This is the exact same hubcap that was missing off of my little red car that I wrecked. It was as if the spirit of the old car had taken over the new, shaking off the unfamiliar hubcap and making itself known. Or, the thing was just broken. Either way, the hubcap was missing and I was pissed. It was nearly dark when we decided to hop back in and drive back to Portage to try to find the lost hubcap somewhere around where we had heard the noise. Amazingly, we found it easily and triumphantly headed home. I stopped by my dad's to show off the new car and to see if we could get the hubcap back on. After trying a few times and having it pop back off it was clear that it wasn't going to work, so now I have to call the dealership (which I had planned to do this morning, but read on to find out why this didn't happen) and see what they can do about it.
Slightly disappointed, but still happy, I came home. I was barely in the door when my dad called, asking if I wanted to go for wings. The relaxing plan was shot to hell, but hey, it was for wings. After dinner my dad decided to take me to the club that he had rebuilt after a fire. I find these little clubs fascinating. Little underground pockets of secrecy and exclusion. Anyway, we stayed there until just after midnight. I was exhausted after the very long day and was looking forward to bed. Then, my sister called. She was very upset, having issues with morons in her life. I was up until after 3 a.m. By this point I had a splitting headache and just wanted to sleep. When I finally did sleep I had some seriously messed up dreams. I had planned to get up before noon and call the dealership before they closed, but due to the madness that was yesterday, I didn't crawl out of bed until 12:30 p.m., so it will have to wait until Monday.
Today, I'm not making any plans. I'm just going to hang out here, relax, and see what happens.
