If you come around....

Today at work, one of the boys was really pissed because I didn't do his laundry (it's not staff's job to do their laundry, and he didn't ask for an accommodation). So he got aggressive and confrontational first in the dorm, so I gave him a demerit for anger control issues. Then after breakfast he got all confrontational about the demerit, and threw a book at me. So I gave him another one for not respecting others. Then he threatened to "really throw the book at me". So then I had to write up an Incident Report. Awesome. They say you aren't truly initiated until at least one of them hates you (he'll come around). Point being, I got home at like 10:30... that's like 11 hours right there. And it was my first time being the superior person on duty overnight. Yeah, awesome. All of it.

Mike and I had lunch at the Aladdin Cafe, North of Killingsworth on NE 33rd. Mike suggested Nicolas' but I kinda wanted to try something new. This place is very casual, but is not without atmosphere. It was really a great environment for lunch, and its unassuming location and ambiance was perfect for the mood I was in after the incident at work. He had Turkish coffee and I had mint tea. Though my tea came in a bag, they did serve it with sprigs of fresh mint. The pita was quite good, though a small notch below Nicolas' in quality. We ate it with fantastic Tabouleh, with a really good amount of grain, and nicely heavy on the parsley. Also, it wasn't too lemony. Then we split a lamb shawarma Sandwich that was superb. The lamb was really nicely spiced, the tahini was not to bitter and balanced everything out really well, and the sandwich pita was even better than the stuff we ate with the Tabouleh. The piece of baklava we split was larger than either of us was expecting. The conversation was engaging, entertaining, and all around great. It's kinda out of the way, but I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, casual meal. Also a place that would be comfortable to dine alone in...

The east coast is being smashed by snow. I miss snow....
