I reaaaally want to do roller derby -- one of my friends does it and the london one has this boot camp type thing and I want to do it so bad but I figure I will actually need to be able to skate before attempting anything more complicated and that is going to take a while to achieve haha

You should ask them. The one that I'm going to welcomes complete beginners (even if you can't stand up on skates). It's been years since I've used quad skates, I'm hoping it's not too different to inlines/ice skates. We shall see.

I know, right? Most of my flist goes to the gym but I don't think I have the motivation for that so I figure team sports is a good way to meet people/be more active.

this one is open to anyone but i asked my friend and she said that it's not really worth the money if you can't skate to begin with so i'm going to work on that.

it definitely is! i am too scared of the meeting people thing which is why the gym works out well for me because i can just slip in and out without having to actually interact with people.

I guess that makes sense. I think that the team I'm checking out is a new one so it probably makes sense to train a bunch of newbies up. I don't know, I guess I'll just wait and see!

Ah, I'm pretty nervous meeting people in a group but so long as I get a chance to just talk to one or two people at a time it isn't so bad.
