Jesus rides the subway
Some of you might remember me blogging about "Jesus spotters" while back. OK, so maybe you don't. Well, I just want to say that I ran into another one tonight:
I was on the subway, alone, on my way home after watching a movie with my best RL friend. As I stand in front of the glass doors waiting for the train to pull into the station, I notice the reflection of a man walking up and eyeing my back from afar. He's giving off some odd vibes.
Soon, the man ambles over to a number of chatting ladies nearby, and says matter-of-factly:
"Jesus is getting off the train. Jesus is standing over there."
Yikes! Obviously he's either drunk, on something, or just plain off his rocker. The ladies play along:
"I noticed it looked like Jesus. It probably is."
Thankfully, it appears that the deranged disciple did not get off at my stop, although I got worried there for a second.
I did have some more positive encounters on the subway as well: An out-of-towner who could not even speak English asked me for directions (I was able to assist despite the language barrier), and an immigrant employed by the public transportation service asked me to explain some difficult words in the paper. I now feel helpful! ^^
