nooooo not david bowie and other stuff

i'm pretty sure i'm with everyone else in saying "lord, couldn't you take donald trump instead?"

i have a week and a day until school starts and i'm like "hmm... all of the movies, all of the time!" keeping that in mind, i finally watched silver linings playbook and i can see why people told me NOT to watch that movie. the beginning was really hard for me to watch because damn, do i act like that without medication? and then it tricked me because it was a fucking rom com! boo this movie!

then i watched chris rock's documentary good hair and that was surprisingly good. i hate that phrase "good hair" anyway. i have what could be considered good hair by some people's terms and they're always like "if i had that good hair like your family, i'd let it grow and be long and pretty!" at least white people don't try to touch it when it's short, ya know? when i had longish natural hair, people (usually white) would be all "oh, what are you mixed with?" and would get mad when i'd say "white folks." my mother has long, beautiful curly hair, and there's no doubt that that's what mine would do if i let it grow and invested in enough detangling conditioner to choke horses. i haven't had a relaxer in my hair since my first attempt at college because i can't stand the way it makes my hair (and me) feel. i lost a super bowl bet and cut my hair down to the new growth and it's been this way ever since. i recommend the documentary, in any case. i wish he would have talked to more stars with natural hair, though.

fwtallgirl and i saw the hateful 8 last night in its three hour glory. i didn't feel like i sat there for 3 hrs, so that's a good sign. typical tarentino, so liberal use of the n word and violence. interesting thing i noticed: there were lots of older white people in this showing and i think i was the only black person. was star wars full? did they get lost? i don't want to spoil it, but i think it was worth seeing.

trying to decide what to watch today, if anything? doing laundry and such before school starts next week. i had an incident with a light bulb... and the light bulb won. the metal piece from the bulb is stuck in the light fixture and i'm like "now how am i gonna get that fucker out?" cat suggested needle nosed pliers and i might try that soon, once i figure out the best way to approach it. does ANYONE have any other ideas about how to get this thing out?

meanwhile, music sounds good. i will listen to music and clean. did i mention that my desk is mostly clean? i don't get hives anymore when i look at it!

movies, racism, music, life
