Holiday.

Jason and I decided to skip town for holiday. We landed ourselves in St Petersburg, FL, to visit his family and then Miami and Key West for a true escape.

We arrived on Tuesday to brunch with his father at Village Inn (think: Denny's) and dinner with his mom at Harvey's (think: Sarabeth's - but more focused to a younger crowd). In between times, Jason and I went downtown for coffee at Bohemian Cafe. Pretty much a low-key start.

Yesterday, he and I were off to the Salvador Dali Museum, but had one small hitch: his alternator/power steering belt shredded and we found ourselves parked inside his father's garage attempting to fix the issue ourselves. A call to his mom, a scavenger hunt for a specific belt type, and much sweating later, the car sat curbside, awaiting a tow truck the next morning. Luckily, Jason's mom was able to pick us up and bring us home. Alas, no Salvador for Wednesday.

This morning, Jason and his mom traveled back to Jason's dad's home, called a tow truck and carted the poor Subaru to Forties', a mechanic Jason's mom has used for several years.

I sit on the loft of Jason's mom's condo, sipping my third cup of coffee, awaiting the return.
