When just the first swing landed, Dean felt his heart cry out in protest.
It wasn’t her fault. But he swung the bar again, felt the vibrations in his hands run up his arms, and down throughout his body. It wasn’t rage he was channeling - it was grief.
He had no control. He couldn’t stop. He hit her again, and again. An ugly hole appeared in her trunk, and he finally let the bar fall to the ground.
His father had left him. His baby had almost left him, too. And what he had done didn’t make anything feel better.
