Fuji dances around Tezuka as if he were spun glass that could withstand any burden. He treats him both delicately and without care.
There are times when he sees the frown which often mars Tezuka's face, and he is careful with his approach, treating him like a skittish animal, liable to run at the slightest sense of danger.
Other times, Fuji crashes into him, holding on so tight that even the surest stone could crumble. If he holds on strongly enough, Fuji reasons, Tezuka will never be able to leave him. He finds it strange, when he allows himself a moment or two for reflection, because both actions are borne out of a desire to prevent Tezuka's escape.
He doesn't like to think why he fears abandonment so much. Yuuta is often on his mind, and he wishes to remember a time when Yuuta didn't scowl at the sight of him. He hates to admit that he can't exactly recall when that was.
Tezuka is equally careful of him, he knows, and he is grateful for it in a way that he'll never voice out loud for fear of jinxing it. He's lived with his sister long enough to have a healthy respect for superstition.
It only happens on weekends, and only when they can take the time. He glances over at Tezuka, relaxed in sleep, and smiles just a little. On these days, Tezuka has an air of desperation around him. Tasting and touching and taking until they both can barely move, as if Tezuka is afraid if he lets Fuji out of his embrace for a mere moment, he will be gone and Tezuka alone.
Fuji doesn’t understand why Tezuka fears this. If anyone should worry about this possibility, it should be him. Tezuka will never cease to be surrounded by people willing to say anything, do anything, give anything that he asks. Fuji, however, has so little to offer Tezuka beyond a willing body and quiet understanding and, without a doubt, Tezuka could easily find that elsewhere as well.
It's not smart to think these things, because it leads to the desire to pull away, to be more hesitant. Fuji reaches out to Tezuka, feeling the way he responds to their closeness, even in sleep. He knows as Tezuka body moulds perfectly with his that he will never give Tezuka up without a fight. Fuji feels the way Tezuka holds him and is finally able to relax enough to fall back asleep. The arm around him is heavy, immovable, but then again, Fuji is glad of it, because it means that Tezuka doesn't want him to escape either.
